I am a mature student studying cyber security management full-time at university. My focus is on information security, governance, risk, and compliance.
I am currently in my second year. I am proud to be on track for a first-class degree. My current intention is to complete a year-long industry placement starting in the summer of 2022. I will then complete the final year of study and graduate in June 2024.
I have a background in law enforcement as a Detective. I culminated my time in the Police as an acting Detective Sergeant investigating and supervising serious and complex criminal offences. The role involves the analysis of all forms of evidence ranging from behavioural, physical, digital, and emotional. It also involves liaising with professional bodies and organisations and presenting evidence in court. You can find links to some of the media articles I released from this site.
I have experience, during an attachment, as an IT Support technician supporting the implementation of a £3 million mobile technology project supporting front line officers.
Throughout my career, I have led dyslexia support and recognition providing anaylsis of mitigation solutions and providing advice in relation to their implementation in industry settings. As I moved into education, I continued this by working as a mentor within the Peer-assisted learning environment supporting new students as they undertake their first year of study. I also created my own dyslexic student website specifically supporting dyslexic students in their studies.
My studies in cyber security built on a foundation of critical analysis, within a legal framework, allow me to see the industry in a unique light. I am looking forward to moving forward.
In my own time, I enjoy photography, sailing, archery, and walking. I also spend my time supporting the family business Clipperlight. I love travelling, particularly to Australia and the US to visit family. Recently I started a personal blog with the intention of writing about my experiences. Another creation I explored was that of a feel-good news website with the intention of countering all the negative events in the world.
Thank you, Nick Gravenor
